Data is de nieuwe olie en kunstmatige intelligentie de technologie van de toekomst

Data is the new oil and artificial intelligence is the technology of the future.

This project leverages these insights to turn Castor EDC into one of Amsterdam’s most valuable companies. We are currently in the age of evidence based healthcare, relying on high quality research to advance. However, of the USD 250 bln spent on medical research annually, only USD 50 bln actually contributes to patient health in the long run.

Medical research needs to reinvent itself if it is to have any chance of becoming more effective. This all starts with valuing our medical research data as the scarce resource that it is. That means standardizing it, capturing rich metadata, storing it centrally, and making it available for reuse worldwide. Only then can we start to accelerate medical research and increase effectiveness of modern healthcare.

In this project, we propose to develop a scalable, evidence-based solution for standardization of medical research that allows any medical researcher to create standardized datasets that can be easily shared and exchanged. Furthermore, we aim to further develop and market a solution, MyConsent, that enables civilians to autonomously exercise their right to consent the (re-)use of their data. Combining these technologies would be a major leap towards entering a new era of medical research and making more effective use of data resources.
